Founder, Attorney

With more than 26 years of trial experience in Virginia’s Courts, Attorney Hugh E. “Teddy” Black, III has always strived to build a reputation amongst his clients, colleagues, and members of the judiciary for integrity, as well as a commitment to excellent legal representation. Teddy is a proven friend and fierce advocate in the courtroom as you navigate your way through any criminal or traffic case.

Teddy was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia where he attended public schools, eventually graduating from Oscar F. Smith High School in 1984. Next, he pursued a Bachelor of Science from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where he graduated in May of 1989. Finally, he received his law degree from Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law, in Ada, Ohio in May of 1992. Following graduation, Teddy returned back to his native Chesapeake where he began the practice of law pursuing his lifelong dream of being a criminal defense attorney.

As a result, his legal representation had been concentrated in the areas of criminal and traffic defense as well as personal injury. He has successfully represented clients in all aspects of these areas of law, striving always to maintain a strong relationship during his representation with each of his clients, while protecting their rights.

He has proven to be a strong advocate both in and out of the courtroom and has built his reputation through hard work and commitment to the principals of advocacy and beliefs in the American Jurisprudence System.

He has earned a BV Distinguished Peer Review rating by Martindale-Hubbell for professionalism and ethics. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (VACDL), National College for DUI Defense (NCDD), American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys (AAPDA), and American Society of Legal Advocated.

Brittany was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia where she attended public schools, eventually graduating from Indian River High School in 2012. Next, she pursued a Bachelor of Science from Radford University where she graduated in 2016. Finally, she received her law degree from Appalachian School of Law where she earned an academic scholarship in 2020. Following graduation, Brittany returned back to Chesapeake where she began practicing law with her father, Teddy Black. 

During law school Brittany interned at the Chesapeake Public Defender’s Office and with her father, Attorney Teddy Black. Brittany joined the Firm as an Associate upon graduating law school and passing the Virginia Bar Exam. She is eager to serve those in her community and give diligent legal representation to those in need. Further, she will be focusing her practice of law in the areas of criminal and traffic defense, personal injury, and domestic relations.
